Exercise 18-A
Exercise 18-B
Solution 4
We have been given that 1 mile= 1.6 kilometres
We also know that 1 km=1000 meters so
by multiplying on both sides
1.6×1000=1×1000
1600m is to 1000m
This means that miles and kilometres are in ratio of
1.6:1 so...
(a)4.5×1.6
=9.20km
This means that 4.5 miles is equal to 9.20km
(B)we have been given that 1 mile = 1km so...
let's take the H as no. of miles so...
H×1.6=8
taking left hand side and right hand side.
H=8÷1.6
H = 5
approximately 5 miles will be equal to 8 km
Solution 5
Exercise 18-C
Solution 2
- Scale on x-axis, 1 cm = 10 minutes. Scale on y-axis, 1 cm = 100 metres.
- The aeroplane rose upto 10 minutes of 1000 metres
- 100 metres per minutes
- 40 + 40 = 80 minutes
- 130 minutes
